Rookie Summer Ball

2026 Summer Program
(only players registered in the spring program are eligible)

Canadian & National teams:
Please visit the 2026 Summer Ball tab on the website for tryout dates, location and times.

CANADIAN
We will form 1 and sometimes 2 Canadian level teams to compete in the summer interlock program with teams from the Ottawa area, usually Ottawa West, Orleans and East Nepean. Two games per week plus one practice per week at the coaches discretion.  Teams may participate in tournaments depending on availability and interest.  A coach pitch format is used, when possible our team will use the pitching machine.  All players are encouraged to tryout - spring Canadian and National players are eligible to compete for a spot in the Summer Canadian tier. Tryouts are held mid June.    The city interlock game schedule will be available at the end of June and starts right after Canada Day. Summer playoffs conclude mid to the end of August but never on or past Labour Day.  Unlike spring ball, games are NOT on consistent days but are during the week not weekends.  Rained out rescheduling and tournaments can be on weekends.

NATIONAL

The National tier program format depends on registration numbers. If there are enough players we will form a 4 team house league.  Teams will have two games per week at Canterbury on Mondays and Wednesdays and will use the pitching machine.  If there are too few players to form a house league, the National teams will enter summer interlock in the National tier which will involve travel within Ottawa.

PROVINCIAL
If your child was in the provincial spring program, you can sign up for the summer program. You are not eligible to move up to National or Canadian tiers.  The program starts in the second week of July and finishes by mid August.  The focus will be on continued skill development as well as game play through intersquad scrimmages.  Spring coaches willing to be part of this should communicate with the spring convenor by mid June.

There is no summer city-wide interlock program for the provincial level which means all provincial sessions are held on Mondays / Wednesdays at Arch Street school, and does not involve driving to other parts of the city.

We prefer to keep costs low. Players continue with their spring shirts and hats, and photos are not repeated.  Parents and coaches are encouraged to organize pizza / treats and games on the final evening which will be funded by the league.
