Coach Development Programs

National Coaches Certification Program (NCCP) - This is a nationally recognized coaching certification program which is highly recommended by South Ottawa Little League. You can learn more about this program at nccp.baseball.ca. It is for any level of coaching - not just "competitive" or "serious" coaches - everyone will benefit. South Ottawa Little League is willing to assist in funding coaches for successful completion of NCCP training.

Baseball Ontario - This provincial body also provides access to training seminars and tips for runing drills and practices. Coaches can consult their webpage here.

Positive Coaching Alliance - Provides research-based training and resources for coaches, parents, athletes, and administrators to ensure a positive youth development experience for ALL kids through sports. PCA ensures sports are ‘done right’ with programming that is research-based and designed to have impact at three levels in a youth sports organization or school:

YOUTH experience improved life skills and character development.
COACHES become more positive and increase their focus on using sports to teach life lessons.
YOUTH SPORTS ORGANIZATIONS AND SCHOOLS see their cultures become more positive and everyone involved has more fun.

Little League Diamond Leaders Program - Focused on ensuring children have a positive, well-rounded experience on and off the field, this program is a FREE educational resource that provides coaches with an understanding of the impact that mental, social, and emotional well-being has in youth sports through detailed information, interactive scenarios, and a variety of additional resources. Over time, Little League will continue to evaluate this course and look to provide additional opportunities for extended learning.
