In 2026 South Ottawa plans to field teams to compete in playdowns at Senior, Junior, Major, Minor.

All Star Program Information
Minor & Major: One All-Star team in each division competes in District / Provincial / Canadian level competitions. (No Cdn level competition at Minor).
Junior & Senior: One All-Star team in each division competes in District / Eastern / Canadian level competitions.
Minor & Major teams enter the city interlock league in the All-Star level. Junior and Senior teams enter city interlock at the Canadian level which is the highest tier in that division.
Minor & Major interlock has three tiers: All-Star, Canadian and National. SOLL forms teams at Canadian (usually one per division) and one or more in National. In Rookie, Junior and Senior there are only 2 tiers - Canadian and National.

All-Star Teams are selected after a tryout process held in late May / early June. These teams represent our league in the World Wide Little League Tournament which starts with the District 6 playdowns and continue on to Provincial or Eastern, Canadian and World Series Championships for the successful teams. Minor teams do not have Canadian championships, only Provincials. Rookie teams* do not participate in this process and play locally only.
ELIGIBILITY
Players on these teams must be available for tournament playdowns (district / prov / canadian championship) dates and we expect players on these teams to plan their holidays around these times. Unavoidable absences must be disclosed and discussed in advance of tryouts with the President, head coach and league representatives. Parents/players will be asked to sign a commitment letter to ensure a full understanding of the required commitment.
Athletes rostered with or affiliated with any other baseball club, team or organization are NOT eligible for selection to All-Star teams in all divisions. Registration forms and letters of committment required from all families trying out for an All-Star spots will include an attestation to this effect. Athletes rostered elsewhere are eligible to participate in spring and summer ball, but not on All-Star teams.
In order to be eligible for selection to an All-Star team, players must have played in 8 or more of the regular season scheduled games in that same division of play (not including playoffs). Games missed for medical reasons will be excluded from the requirement with a doctor's note. Players must also meet residency requirements.
Athletes with an unavoidable conflict for their tryout session(s) are to send an email to president@southottawalittleleague immediately upon learning of the conflict and NO LATER than the applicable registration deadline, FULLY explaining the reason for the absence. A decision will be made on a case by case basis by the board's executive committee about whether an alternate assessment opportunity is possible. No player shall be named to a team without an appropriate assessment. The best option for all players is to attend the tryout session.
In rookie, junior and senior where there is only 1 tryout date, the same policy applies if the player cannot attend the session.
As soon as available, usually Feb or March we will post an overview of each team's expected schedule - tournament dates, practice days etc. Please check back then. In the meantime, please contact the all star team coaches noted if you have questions.
ROOKIE
At the rookie level we plan to form one or two Canadian (A) teams. This team(s) competes in the city interlock league. There are no district/provincial competitons at rookie.
In addition to the A team(s), we will form additional teams. In 2025 we formed 4 teams additional teams that played in a South Ottawa summer league. This avoided families travelling throughout the city for games and allowed games to be scheduled on set nights. The format included the pitching machine and allowed South Ottawa coaches to customize development for the benefit of our players. Based on the positive coach and parent feedback received we will continue this approach in 2026 providing numbers are sufficient. If numbers don't support formation of 3 or 4 teams, we have the option to enter into the National summer interlock league.
