Spring Team Forming Process
The player's skills are assessed at evaluations. Scores are used to align players into Canadian (A), National (B), or Provincial (1st year) divisions where streaming applies, and/or to form balanced teams within each division. Where necessary evaluations from previous seasons may be used, as well as the input of experienced coaches. The goal is to have a realistic sense of each player's skills so they may be placed appropriately. The league works hard to ensure that each team has a fair allocation of pitching and catching ability and a cross-section of players. Team forming is completed by league representatives and overseen by league VPs and the President. While convenors may organize evaluations unless they are a non-parent they are not responsible for creating teams.
** NEW PROCESS FOR 2026 - Please read carefully. Friend requests submitted before April 11 are invalid.
We take friend requests only in COED Rookie, Minor, Major, Junior and in GIRLS Rookie, Minor, Major (there is only 1 team in both girls junior and senior)

Please note:
Keep in mind that we automatically place siblings on the same team unless otherwise requested by parents. Coaches children are automatically placed on their team.
Both players must be assessed at the same skill level. If Mary is aligned to Canadian (A) and Sam into National (B), they cannot be on the same team. Mary can elect to move down to B, but Sam cannot be moved up to A.
Please note that this is a REQUEST - there is no guarantee. Team balancing is our prime concern. We may not be able to accommodate all friend requests. Usually, players land on a team where they know someone else, and if not are happy to make some new friends. We hope most families will not find it necessary to make a friend request as it is a significant strain on volunteers. That said, we realize that we have many athletes playing for the first time and are joining with a friend - especially in these situations we'll do our very best to accommodate.
Boundaries
Starting in the northwest corner, the boundary is described in a counter-clockwise direction, as:
Summer Manager Selection Process
Summer Managers (head coaches) for our all-star teams are selected by a committee of the board of directors. The makeup of the committee is prescribed in the league constitution and includes the President, Vice President(s), Secretary, and Director of Coaching. At the discretion of the committee, up to two additional members of the league may be asked to join the committee. Should a committee member be applying as a summer manager, s/he will be excluded from that portion of committee decisions and discussions.
Smoke-Free / Alchohol Free Diamonds and Parks
June 2015
We take the health and safety of our players seriously. Little League’s health and safety rules as per page 45 Item (f) under Regulation XIV (Field Decorum) in the Little League rule book.include a ban on tobacco and alcohol consumption at baseball diamonds and surrounding areas.
The City of Ottawa by-laws provide smoke-free and alcohol free spaces that include all of our baseball diamonds and surrounding parks. By-law enforcement officers sometimes visit our baseball diamonds as part of their regular activities. More information on Little League’s health and safety policies and the City of Ottawa bylaw can be found on their websites.
Thank you very much for complying with these provisions and for supporting a healthy environment for our young athletes.
